SkiMax has been designed, from the ground-up, with private group-skiing events in mind. It does what a normal Ski-App is expected to do, but it also incorporates (via modest yearly subscription) global piste-map data from the Open-Snow-Map project, ski-group location sharing and full ski-related data sharing with your group.
Features:
Ski-Data (base purchase)
Before starting your day skiing, press the big green START button from the New-Track tab, and you are ready to go. SkiMax will record your progress through the day, detecting when you enter lifts, start skiing or decide to sit-it out in a restaurant. Daily summaries of your time spent skiing, in lifts or at rest are calculated, as are the usual values for: max-speed; max-altitude; min-altitude; distance skied; distance travelled in lifts; height skied and height risen in lifts. There are also some specialist values calculated: longest sustained speed (>10 mph; > 20mph etc); the fastest 1/4 mile; 1/2 mile etc; the fastest time to lose 100m in height during skiing. Most of this data can be presented back on to a map for later review.
Auto-renewable Subscription:
Title: SkiMax Multi-Pass
Price: $2.49/year
Content and Features Provided in Subscription : (1) Global Piste Maps and (2) Ski-Group Features.
(1) Global Piste Maps
Global piste data from the OpenSnowMap project. This data is presented, animated within Live-Map and appears (non-animated) in other maps throughout. It may be used for reference while on location at your ski-resort. Ski-Max will display, on its Live Map tab: chair-lifts; drag-lifts; gondolas; cable-cars etc in animated form for clarity, pistes with their names, snow-parks other featured areas all displayed in a colouring scheme of choice (European, USA or Japan). Your subscription will also keep your piste maps up-to-date, with checks being done every 7 days for new piste map data.
(2) Ski-Group Features
You can create and join SkiMax Ski-Groups. These can be created from the Settings section of the app. Groups may contain up to 20 individuals. One person will do this, naming the group. Once created, a unique QR code is presented that other group members can scan, from the Settings page. Each person will be responsible for naming themselves and setting the colour of their appearance (jacket; salopettes; helmet). The app can then be used to see the locations of all the group members, displayed in their respective colours, while they are using the app. No private numbers, email addresses etc have to be exchanged to do this, just the QR code. Also... when skiing with a group, the Live Map tab allows you to view the current location and last 2 minute trace history of every member of the group. Customisations of your ski-character allow for you to be identified by your skiing colour-scheme. See your friends and family within on the piste map in real-time. After skiing, your data can be uploaded to our cloud-based servers and all other group members can see your track summaries and the full detail of your day. SkiMax gives you lots of performance statistics to compare after you stop skiing.
